Last year, Amell signed on to star in “Heels,” an 8-episode drama series at Starz that follows a family-owned wrestling promotion in Georgia. Amell will portray Jack, who owns the Duffy Wrestling Association and wrestles there as a heel while trying to build up the promotion behind the scenes.
Amell’s history with pro wrestling goes beyond that of being a lifelong fan. In 2015, Amell, who is perhaps best known for portraying the Green Arrow on the CW show “Arrow,” entered a feud with Cody, who was portraying the Stardust character in WWE at the time. Their feud resulted in a match at SummerSlam that year in which Amell and Neville defeated Stardust and King Barrett in a tag match. Afterwards, Amell would side with Cody and the Bullet Club, facing the likes of SCU and Flip Gordon in Ring of Honor. Amell would later have a match against Christopher Daniels at All In.
