Sonya Deville Says She Has What It Takes To Be The Top Superstar In WWE, Male Or Female

Sonya Deville believes her time is now in becoming both a top WWE star and a potential television star.

It’s no secret that Deville has publicly stated her interest in replacing Ruby Rose as the lead character in the CW show Batwoman, but she also hopes to achieve her goal of becoming WWE’s biggest superstar. In an interview with Sports Illustrated, Deville spoke on why she believes she can be the top star in the company.

“My career for the past five years in WWE has been everything it should have been in terms of preparing me for where I am now. I learned so much working with Paige in Absolution and with Mandy in Fire and Desire. I’ve never been more ready to be on my own and show the world what I’ve always known I am capable of. I have everything it takes to be the top superstar, whether it be male or female, in the WWE,” Deville said.

Deville also talked about her interest in becoming the new Batwoman, saying she loved how Batwoman was gay in the show. That inspired her to try and fill the void left by Rose because she does not think there is no better role for her than Batwoman in having LGBTQ+ representation among the superhero genre.

“When Ruby Rose got cast as Batwoman, I remember seeing that and thinking, ‘Wow, Batwoman’s going to be gay, that’s so cool. I grew up loving superheroes, but there weren’t many female superheroes let alone part of the LGBTQ community. But now that she’s stepped away, I don’t see any better fit than myself. I would love to continue with her inspiring message. I’ve been training and acting since I was 12, and I’m definitely in pursuit of the role. I come with my own stunt training, too,” Deville said.

Deville is currently wrestling on SmackDown, which airs on FOX every Friday at 8 p.m. ET.
