Smackdown Viewership Up Following Raw vs. Smackdown Battle
Interest in Monday night's big angle led to an uptick in ratings for yesterday's Smackdown program.
Showbuzz Daily reports that even though Game 1 of the MLB World Series took place last night, Smackdown scored 2.699 million viewers, which is up nearly 27 percent from last week's 2,320 million viewers. It seems that the big Smackdown invasion angle that aired on Raw Monday likely led to interest in Smackdown's programing, to see if Raw would invade or not.
In terms of rankings for the night, Smackdown was number two with only American Horror Story on FX scoring better numbers. It scored a 0.81 in the coveted 18-49 demographic.
Despite interest in the continuation of the Smackdown angle, Raw never showed up on Tuesday night. It was heavily teased, however, and the angle will probably continue on both shows leading to Survivor Series, which will take place in Houston, Texas on November 19.
The other big storyline on the show had Sami Zayn vs. Randy Orton compete for a spot on the Survivor Series men's team. Orton won after a low blow and a RKO. Becky Lynch also won a match to determine who would captian Team Smackdown in the women's match against Raw. Alicia Fox won the right to be captian on Monday, when she beat Bayley and Sasha Banks in a triple threat match.
Next week, Kevin Owens will take on Shinsuke Nakamura and Bobby Roode will face Dolph Ziggler in a 2 out of 3 falls match to determine who will advance to the Smackdown men's team.
