Sin Cara Speaks On His Rough Upbringing And Having To Deal With Bullying As A Young Child

The luchadore with some motivational words for the children in attendance.

Current SmackDown Live talent Sin Cara returned home to El Paso, Texas recently and took a trip to 'Crockett' Elementary School which is the school he attended as a child. Sin Cara spoke to the boys and girls in attendance about his upbringing and shared that although he has achieved success in his life it was not easy getting to where is now.

Speaking with the 'El Paso Herald' following his speech the former NXT Tag Team Champion explained that it was important for him to come back to his community seeing as how he does not get to do it often due to the demanding WWE travel schedule.

“When I was growing up, I didn’t have a lot of opportunities. In the Segundo Barrio it was difficult. I wanted to talk to them and let them know that no matter your circumstances you can overcome,” he said. “I usually don’t get to do a lot in my community because I travel so much, but it’s very important for me to give back to where I came from.”

Sin Cara attended high school in El Paso as well and shared that there were times when he had to deal with bullying throughout his grade school years. Sin Cara encouraged the children in attendance that if they see someone being bullied, say something.

“I faced some tough situations, but I was fortunate that my parents backed me up,” he said. “My dad taught me I had to stand up for myself. You have the power to control how it affects you. If you are being bullied, you need to tell an adult. You have to communicate because you are not alone.” He continued, “If you see someone else getting bullied, you need to say something,” he told them. “You have to support each other.”

Sin Cara also gave his take on what he hopes the children who were in attendance took away from what he said to them, and there were also comments from the school's staff and a young man in attendance who had a special moment with the luchadore. To read the full article, click here.
