Shelton Benjamin Confirms He’s Been Released By WWE

Shelton Benjamin is gone from WWE.

Benjamin confirmed his release on social media on September 21, 2023. In his statement, Benjamin thanked staff, talent, and fans for his run with the company. Benjamin also noted that he’s looking forward to what is next for him.

After a six year hiatus from WWE, Benjamin returned to the company in 2016, debuting on the SmackDown Live brand. From 2016-2023, Benjamin switched between Raw and SmackDown on numerous occasions. In 2020, Benjamin joined The Hurt Business faction alongside Cedric Alexander, Bobby Lashley, and MVP.  Throughout his time with the faction, Benjamin held the WWE Raw Tag Team Championships one time with Cedric Alexander. Benjamin also held the 24/7 Championship on three separate occasions.

Benjamin last wrestled for WWE on the September 14, 2023 episode of Main Event, where he teamed with Cedric Alexander to face The Viking Raiders (Erik & Ivar).
