Shelton Benjamin And Kurt Angle Believe Team Angle Was Broken Up Too Soon

Shelton Benjamin and Kurt Angle wish Team Angle would’ve lasted longer.

The faction, which consisted of Benjamin, Angle, and Charlie Haas, is a group that many fans will argue never got to reach its full potential. Angle fired Benjamin and Haas from the faction after only months of being together.

Benjamin and Haas continued to team together after Angle fired them from the group, but many fans wanted to see the three stars in a group together for a longer period of time.

On a recent episode of The Kurt Angle Show, Benjamin and Angle were asked if they think that the group was broken up too quickly.

KA: Yes

SB: 1000 percent.

KA: It was my fault. I broke my neck, and when I came back, they were like, ‘we need to change stuff up and we’re going to have you face Charlie and Shelton.’ Wait a minute, we just started this. We had only been back for about six or seven months before they split us up.

SB: It was not long at all. It didn’t make a year.

KA: It was really good. We could have been one of the greatest factions in history. This thing was special, we had something really cool going on. It just sucks I got injured and that’s the reason why.

SB: It was disappointing for us, too. We were having so much fun with it, the fans loved it. We loved it. Honestly, I felt we had so much more to learn from Kurt, being under his tutelage, but things happened and whoever made the decision, they weren’t budging on it. I think I speak for Charlie when I say we all feel like they broke us up way too soon.

KA: We felt like we were robbed of something special. We could have held those titles…I wasn’t supposed to lose the title. I broke my neck so I had to drop the title to Brock, they had the titles at the time, we were all champions, we could have a nice year-long reign and it just broke apart when I broke my neck and that was it. It was the end of Team Angle, unfortunately.

SB: It sucked, it really did. We had to regroup and get back on the horse. That’s pretty much what we all did.
