Sheamus: I Want People To Remember Sheamus, Just Like People Remember John Cena Or Undertaker

Sheamus wants his name to be immortalized and mentioned in a way similar to that of WWE legends.

In an interview with Sports Illustrated, Sheamus said his goal and mentality is to be remembered by WWE fans in the same way they remember John Cena and the Undertaker when it’s all said and done.

“I want people to remember Sheamus, just like people remember John Cena or Undertaker,” Sheamus said. “People might scoff at that, but that is my mentality. I came here never to be a number; I came here to be the greatest I can possibly be. That’s my mindset. People are giving up their Friday nights to watch me. I need to give them a reason to watch. I don’t take that for granted, and I’m going to grab their attention and run with it.”

Sheamus has certainly won many titles in his WWE career, but Sheamus said the titles don’t matter much if people aren’t invested in the storylines. Looking back on Sheamus’ recent feud with Jeff Hardy, where Hardy’s real-life battles with addiction were put front and center, Sheamus admitted that it was one of his favorites of his career.

“You can win all the titles in the world you want, but it doesn’t mean anything if people aren’t invested in your story,” Sheamus said. “That’s all I want, the story. And I’m going to give you a very violent one. The Jeff Hardy story hit so many raw nerves. It is definitely one of the favorite feuds of my career. That was very, very personal, and it’s one of my favorite feuds in my career.”
