Shawn Spears is leaving AEW.
Fightful Select reported on Thursday afternoon that Shawn Spears was set to depart AEW on January 1 as a free agent.
Shortly after the report was published, Spears took to social media to confirm the news.
What a wonderful time it has been.
Thank you @AEW for allowing me to be there from the ground level. It’s been a fantastic 5 years of growth and personal development.
This is a personal choice and one that is best for me and my family at this time.
Thank you to all, staff and talent alike for the memories

Spears joined AEW in 2019 and was part of an early feud with Cody Rhodes, facing off with Rhodes at AEW All Out 2019.
Spears has not wrestled on AEW television since All Out 2023 when he competed in the Over Budget Battle Royale.
Spears and his wife Cassie Lee (formerly Peyton Royce) recently announced that Lee was pregnant with their second child.
