Shane Taylor Says STP Has Had Talks With Other Promotions, Working On Projects In LA
With ROH Final Battle in the books the company is set to go on hiatus until April 2022.
At ROH Final Battle Shane Taylor defeated Kenny King in a fight without honor. Taylor is considered one of the top free agents on the market along with his stablemates in Shane Taylor Promotions (Moses, Kaun, O’Shay Edwards).
Speaking on It’s My Wrestling Podcast, Taylor discussed what’s next for himself and Shane Taylor Promotions.
“I’m feeling fine,” Taylor said when asked about the ROH hiatus. “In moments like these, I tend to be someone that gets very excited. I know that sounds weird, but I am someone that sort of enjoy chaos and enjoys that feeling of not knowing what’s going to happen and enjoying that feeling of finding that next thing. That survivalist mentality, I’ve had my whole life, sort of kicks in and I feel like I’m at home because growing up, you didn’t know what was going to happen or if you would live through the day. None of this comes as a shock or a surprise or is something I didn’t already see coming. This is something that is par for the course. Me and the guys, with what we’ve been doing and the success we’ve garnered organically, damn near by ourselves, we were debating options anyway. This sort of kicks it into another gear.”
Taylor continued, saying STP has had talks with other promotions.
“We’ve had talks with a few places, but I think right now the best thing to do is sit tight. With the influx of talent coming from everywhere, there are going to be a lot of key people jumping and I’ve never been a reactionary person. I’ve always been a very calculated, detailed, planned person. We’re going to wait until it’s most beneficial for us and until something comes that we all can look at and go, ‘this is the right move,’ we’re gong to wait until then and enjoy the holiday season. We’re going to do some projects in LA that we’ve set up and we’re biding our time to make sure that when we do move, it’s the right thing,” he said.
When asked about the landscape of wrestling changing with the ROH hiatus and WWE releases, Taylor believes it’s a good thing for the overall industry.
“You’re now getting world class talent that is able to come in, help lead locker room, coach young guys, help your veterans. It’s awesome to see. We already saw The OGK in the NWA, which is dope. You’re gonna see two world class guys go in and change the landscape for the locker room. The amount of matchups there is very exciting. You look at MLW and some of the matchups you could potentially have for us would be incredible. A place that loves factions, enjoys faction warfare and then look at stuff individually. Imagine O’Shay vs. Hammerstone or myself vs. Fatu. The possibilities are endless. You look at all of these things and there are so many dope options. Then look at a place like AEW and you have one group that is basically running unopposed and controlling everything, putting out posts saying they are the best three-man team in the world. Looking at this, holding the Ring of Honor Six-Man Titles, saying we’re the best trios team in the world. Sounds to me like someone is lying. When the EVPs decide they actually want a challenge, they know who to call,” he said.
Shane Taylor Promotions lost the ROH Six-Man Tag Team Titles to The Righteous (Vincent, Bateman, and Dutch) at ROH Final Battle.
