Shane Helms Says Impact Wrestling Name Change Doesn’t Matter

Shane Helms says the name change of Impact Wrestling is meaningless.

Late last year, Impact Wrestling completely dropped the initials "TNA." They had previously used the name "Impact" in their marketing and television but had held onto the old name in some manner. During the Fightful Wrestling podcast, Helms would explain why he does not care if Impact Wrestling changed their name or not.

"I didn't give a shit either way. It's one of those stupid little selling points people want to jump on and have a bandwagon conversation about. The name didn't bother me,I understood the connotation behind it might mess with people. I think the simple fix for it was in the logo say what 'TNA' means. Don't have just the letters, have 'total nonstop action', say what the letters mean and the confusion is gone. It's just a wrestling company, and you really think changing the name is going to do anything, if all the other stuff doesn't change? That has absolutely zero to do with anything," said Helms.

He said he likes the name Impact Wrestling but generally feels apathetic about the name of the company, because the quality of the product is more important. Helms would also discuss with podcast host Sean Ross Sapp, his vision for Impact Wrestling's X-Division and some of the details of the tapings from last week. The details from the taping included him going to retrieve the tag-team championship belts from The Hardys and Alberto El Patron's Impact Wrestling debut.

Helms' weekly appearance on Fightful Wrestling podcast is available immediately with membership, which is completely free.
