Seth Rollins Retains WWE Heavyweight Championship In Last Man Standing Match At WWE Fastlane 2023
The WWE Heavyweight Championship was contested in a Last Man Standing match in the main event of WWE Fastlane.
The champion, Seth Rollins, previously defeated his challenger, Shinsuke Nakamura at Payback, but voiced his displeasure with the fact that Shinsuke was able to walk out of the event. The bitter rivalry between the two has only grown more contentious, as Nakamura continues to target Rollins’ already injured back. Seth’s frustration has caused him to chase this match, even offering Shinsuke the advantage of picking the stipulation.
In the main event of Fastlane, Rollins displayed a great deal of determination, as it appeared Shinsuke had him beaten on numerous occasions. Whether he used weapons, mist, or simply threw Rollins from the top of a ladder, it was clear that Nakamura’s strategy was to inflict as much pain on Rollins’ back as possible. For Seth, it was all about survival.
Luckily for Rollins, an opening presented itself while they were fighting in the crowd, allowing him to hit a Pedigree and then a Falcon Arrow through a table. Shinsuke was not able to answer the 10-count, thus losing the match to the beat-up Rollins. Seth would celebrate in the crowd after the bell.
