Seth Rollins: A Big Part Of Being The Best Is Being Able To Draw Money
Seth Rollins discusses his Twitter spat with Will Ospreay.
Over the summer, Seth Rollins made some enemies online when he got into a back-and-forth with Will Ospreay over who the best wrestler in the world is, with both Rollins and Ospreay laying claim to the title. The discussion quickly went off-topic as Rollins brought up his bank account compared to Ospreay’s. The comment didn’t go over well with fans, but Rollins explains that he was just having some fun.
“To me, a big part of being one of the best is being able to draw money,” Rollins told Corey Graves on After The Bell. “That’s what our industry is at the end of the day and people don’t like that for some reason when it came from my mouth. When other people talk about it, say Cody Rhodes or Sasha Banks, they’re cool. But if I come right out and say, ‘I’ve drawn more money than you over the last however many years’ I’m the bad guy. Fine. I’ll be that guy. I’ve got nothing but respect for Will Ospreay. It’s cool that he stepped up and we got into a spat. If we’re all buddies and friends, that’s lame. I can be the most humble dude on the planet, but that’s boring. Twitter is a place where you have fun.”
Rollins hasn’t let up with having fun on social media, recently drawing the ire of fans and Jim Ross for calling AEW the “minor leagues” when asked about a potential match with Kenny Omega. You can view Rollins’ full comment by clicking here.
“If I just sit there and say ‘Kenny Omega, what a talent, I would love to wrestle him someday.’ Whomp whomp. That doesn’t make a headline. That’s boring. Then [Jim Ross] has nothing to talk about. Let us hate each other. Kenny is great. Kenny has never proven himself in WWE. That’s what I was saying. WWE is the top of mountain and I’m sitting at the top of that mountain. If Kenny wants to come and play in the major leagues and get out of the minor leagues. Bottom line is, Kenny has to come to me because I’m not coming to him anytime soon,” he said.
Rollins set to face ‘The Fiend’ Bray Wyatt on Thursday at WWE Crown Jewel in a Falls Count Anywhere match where the match can’t be stopped for any reason.
Fightful will have live coverage of Crown Jewel beginning at 1 p.m. ET on Thursday, Oct. 31.
