Sean Waltman Says He’s Done Wrestling, May Work WrestleMania Or Team With Matt Riddle
Sean Waltman’s wrestling career could be over.
The former X-Pac, Syxx Pac, and 1-2-3 Kid has had decades in pro wrestling, but if a recent X-Pac 12360 podcast of his is to be believed, he won’t be wrestling anymore. Waltman wouldn’t completely close the door on a major match, but had some pretty specific standards
“By the way, I’m fucking done wrestling. Oh, I’m done, yeah. I’m not saying I’m never going to have
another match, but I mean… Yeah, I decided. The WrestleMania weekend show, myself and Hurricane
and Liger. That’s it, man. That was it. I’m fucking done. [Laughs] If I have a match in WWE on a
WrestleMania, or… Actually, I’m more interested in having a match on a show like [an NXT TakeOver
event]. It would mean more to me. […] Maybe I’d team with Matt Riddle. Maybe a six-man, so I can
have a little bit more protection,” said Waltman.
Waltman was instrumental in originally getting Matt Riddle a tryout with WWE.
If this is it for Waltman, he’ll have called it a career after being a part of two influential stables in the nWo and D-Generation X. He captured the WWF European, Tag Team, and Light Heavyweight Championships, and held Cruiserweight and Tag Team titles in WCW. Waltman was also instrumental in establishing TNA’s X-Division, holding their championship.
Whlie Waltman worked under several names, he always portrayed the same “person” on national wrestling programming. His upset of Razor Ramon, and match with Bret “The Hitman” Hart are considered top moments in the history of Monday Night Raw, and helped him craft a WWE Hall of Fame career. He competed as recently as WrestleMania weekend, teaming with Hurricane Helms and Jushin Thunder Liger at WrestleCon.
