Scott Hall Says Hulk Hogan ‘C-ckblocked’ Him
Scott Hall says Hulk Hogan pulled strings and took his main event opportunity.
In 1997. Hall earned a shot at the WCW World Heavyweight Championship, but he says Hulk Hogan's infamous politics got in Hall's way. Hall told Sports Illustrated about the course of events.
“I won at World War 3, and I was supposed to get the title shot at SuperBrawl. That was traditionally a big draw for WCW, and I was supposed to be the main event there vs. Sting. But Hulk cockblocked that and he took the main event spot and I never got the title match. That’s WCW in a nutshell,” said Hall.
The WCW World Heayweight Championship was vacated January of 1998 due to the controversial end to Hogan and Sting's match at Starrcade 1997. The title stayed vacated until SuperBrawl VIII, the same event Hall claims to be owed a title shot. Sting beat Hogan at SuperBrawl VIII for the championship, and Scott Hall would never win a major world title. Despite the wrong Hall feels Hogan has done including Hogan's sex-tape and racial slur scandals, he believes Hogan should appear again in the WWE.
"After a thirty-three year relationship with the WWE, he had a bad day—and that bad day was nearly ten years ago. That sex tape happened during a brutal time in his life. He was going through a divorce, his son Nick was in a car crash, paralyzed his buddy, and was facing jail time. His daughter was starting her hip-hop career, and Hulk was backing that, paying money out of his own pocket for that. The whole world was coming down on him, and he slipped up. He said the wrong thing. I’ve been around Hulk a lot and never seen that side of him. I’ve only seen a kind, generous guy. If the door is not open for him, it should be,” said Hall.
The rest of the interview covers Hall's son, Seth Rollins,Finn Balor, and The New Day. The quotes above came from SportsIllustrated.com.
The WWE Hall of Famer is taking bookings for independent wrestling and appearances. According to Hall, his son Cody is about to return to New Japan Pro Wrestling.
