Scott Garland On Wrestling In AEW: The Idea Is Exciting To Me, I Want It To Be For The Right Thing
Scott Garland (Scotty 2 Hotty) discusses potentially wrestling in AEW.
Garland has been working as a producer and coach for All Elite Wrestling in a backstage capacity for a number of months at this point.
This has prompted many fans to speculate on Garland and his in-ring future, with many saying that they’d like to see the star wrestle for AEW.
Garland appeared on the most recent episode of AEW Unrestricted. During the interview, which was recorded before he appeared in a dark match before the December 27 episode of Dynamite, Garland was asked about the possibility of stepping back into the ring for the company, presumably in a televised capacity.
“I mean you know, it was talked about right. The idea is exciting to me, I just want it to be for the right reason, I want it to be for the right thing.”
Garland went on to say that he doesn’t want to return to the ring on a full time basis, as he wants to focus on his producing and coaching roles.
“I want to elevate somebody, I want to elevate the show, create a moment, I don’t want it to just be a cold match if we do it. I don’t want to just go out there and have a match. It has to be the right thing. My first job here is to be a coach and producer, I don’t want to split my time doing both, I feel like it hurts my job as a producer. If there is the right thing, and it can make the show better or if I can help bring somebody up, I think that’s the way to use it and the way to do it. I don’t want to be going out there every week and be thinking about the match I’m going to have while producing a live segment on Dynamite. I feel like that would hurt my job as a producer.”
Garland went on to say that he wants to become a great producer before also noting that he feels like he’s done everything he wants to do in the ring.
