Scott D’Amore Says The Door Is Open For AEW & WWE Talent To Be Part Of TNA One Night Only Event

Scott D’Amore will welcome back anyone.

At IMPACT All Glory it was teased by IMPACT co-executive vice president Scott D’Amore that the company would be bringing back the TNA name for a One Night Only special over WrestleMania 36 weekend. The event has not been officially announced by the promotion, but Ethan Page already began hyping the event with a post on social media. The Young Bucks, who wrestled in TNA from 2009 to 2013, posted a photo of themselves with the TNA logo behind them. D’Amore replied, teasing a match between the Bucks and The Motor City Machine Guns (Alex Shelley & Chris Sabin).

Speaking to ProWrestling.com, D’Amore further explained his open door offer and the one night TNA revival.

“There’s always going to be a polarizing effect of TNA, but the fact is, for a lot of us, there’s a lot of great memories of it. So, for one night, let’s relive the positive memories of TNA. And let’s leave all the other stuff in the back. Let’s remember the positive times that made us love some of those moments in TNA. Matt & Nick Jackson are two cool dudes. They, like all of us, are wrestling fans. When they tweeted the photo of them with the TNA logo, how could I not respond? Certainly, the door is open on our end if they want to come in. No politics, no BS, just wrestling. Sometimes we can’t do that, but if it’s possible and Matt & Nick want to come down, if somebody in the tower wanted to let Bobby Roode do a Team Canada reunion or [AJ Styles] come back to where he was the face originally, then the doors are open,” he said.

IMPACT has partnered with other promotions over WrestleMania weekend in the past, but it is unknown if WWE or AEW would allow its talent to appear at such an event.

Matt Hardy spent time in TNA, winning the TNA World Heavyweight Title in 2015. Hardy also reinvented himself as Broken Matt during his time in the promotion, though the relationship between the two parties turned soured by the end over trademarks related to Hardy’s Broken Universe.

“I’ve known Matt Hardy for a lot of years. He’s a good dude and passionate wrestling fan,” said D’Amore “One of the things that was important to us when he came in here and formed this new management team was repairing relationships. Matt Hardy was one of those relationships that needed to be repaired. It needed to be repaired to respect Matt’s position in the history of the company and it sends a message that, after some of the issues between Matt and the previous regime, that the current regime was different. That’s why it was so cool to put that to rest, come to a conclusion to allow Matt to be happy and move on and allow us to move on and show that IMPACT Wrestling is a changed company. We’d be happy to work or collaborate with Matt on anything, whether it’s in the ring or behind the scenes. Clearly, he’s a guy that has passion and creativity. No matter where he goes in wrestling or otherwise, he’s going to succeed.”

Hardy left TNA/IMPACT in 2017, returning to WWE alongside his brother Jeff. However, Matt has been off WWE television since April despite being healthy and expressing his desire to work via social media.

IMPACT had a big weekend, holding its Bound For Glory event on Sunday in front of a sold-out Chicago crowd. If you missed anything from Bound For Glory, check out Fightful’s full report on the show by clicking here.
