Scorpio Sky Remembers Viral Dance-Off With Human Tornado From California Indie Scene
In 2006, viral wrestling clips weren’t as prevalent as they are now, but a name you’ve seen on AEW was a part of one.
Scorpio Sky was a fixture on the California independent scene long before AEW, ROH, New Japan or TNA. One of the names he’d constantly run into was Human Tornado — a fellow veteran of Wrestling Society X.
The two worked together over 30 times throughout the years. One of the most remembered may be one that lives on in stunning 240p quality on Youtube. The two tested each other with a knuckle lock before breaking down into a dance-off to Michael Jackson’s “Beat It.” The scene took place at an AWS show in 2006.
“I know exactly what you’re talking about,” Sky told Fightful “That might’ve been—not even might’ve—that had to be the first thing I ever did that broke out. I’m trying to think back. I don’t even really think ‘viral’ even existed at that time or at least the term. I don’t remember it. We just had a funny idea, we did it, and the next thing you know, the next couple of years it was just blowing up on the internet. It’s kind of funny that still comes up.”
Sky, then a jerkish heel, ended the dance-off abruptly with a clothesline to Tornado. Things apparently weren’t too bad, because they’d go on to team together in PWG and numerous other companies.
