Sasha Banks On The Pressure Of First-Ever Women’s Royal Rumble: It’s Why I’m The Greatest

Sasha Banks made history at the 2018 Royal Rumble when she drew number one in the first-ever Women’s Royal Rumble.

Banks lasted over 54 minutes in the match and was trusted with carrying the action as superstars from past and present entered the fray.

Speaking to Complex Sports, Banks discussed her role in the match and how she upped her performance.

“To go into rehearsals and see all these legends and to be pulled aside and being told, ‘You’re going to be the girl to lead this and do all these things,’ it’s more than being a performer and putting on a good show for [the fans]. It’s making sure I show up for all these women and women who haven’t been in the ring for how many plus years and new women who haven’t been in a WWE ring. It’s a lot of pressure, and being in front of a Philly crowd, it’s more than one thing and more than what you guys really understand. If you guys only knew, but that’s why I’m the greatest. It’s my favorite Royal Rumble,” she said.

Banks scored three eliminations in the 2018 Women’s Royal Rumble and made it to the final four before she was eliminated by The Bella Twins.

As the reigning SmackDown Women’s Champion, Banks is unlikely to compete in the 2021 Women’s Royal Rumble. However, she will defend the SmackDown Women’s Championship against Carmella at the event.
