Sasha Banks Has Song Written About Her By Folk Band The Mountain Goats

Sasha Banks has be immortalized in song.

In 2015, the Mountain Goats released Beat the Champ which was an album completely about professional wrestling. Founder, lead singer, song writer, and nearly the only member of the Mountain Goats John Darnielle wrote the album about his personal history with wrestling which included songs about Chavo Guerrero Sr, Bruiser Brody, and other iconic events which shaped Darnielle’s fandom.

Apparently, he promised Sasha Banks to write a song about her which he finally fulfilled recently. The following is an excerpt of a statement from the Mountain Goats website about the song.

When Beat the Champ came out, a wrestler named Sasha Banks tweeted at me: “Where’s my song, @mountain_goats?” As a territories guy I had to learn her story. I said I’d finish the song by the end of the tour; it took a little longer than that.

Last night Sasha Banks wrestled for the Money in the Bank title, and while she didn’t take it home this time, I’ve learned enough about where she came from and how she got to where she is now to say with confidence: the sky is the limit for you. Your walk is just beginning and the day will come when all your setbacks look like steps on a ladder.

The song can be heard at BandCamp.com or the tweet below.

Song for Sasha Banks is about her dreams of becoming a professional wrestler and her journey to WWE starting from when she was a child watching with her brother in the living room.

The video for Beat the Champ can be seen at the top of this page and includes appearances by Chavo Guerrero Jr and Joey Ryan.
