Samoa Joe Says Brock Lesnar Is As Strong As “A Shaved Gorilla”

Tonight, in WWE's last ever event in the soon-to-be-demolished Joe Louis Arena in Detroit, Samoa Joe gets another shot at Brock Lesnar's Universal Title. He'll have to rely on everything he learned in their first battle, back on July 9 at Great Balls Of Fire Pay-Per-View Event if he wants to come away with the strap.

Joe recently spoke to Drew Garabo of 102.5 The Bone in Tampa, and he talked about everything he learned about The Beast.

“Not a lot of people get into Brock Lesnar like I did. Brock is every bit as intimidating as you’d imagine he would be times two. No, I mean, he’s a shaved gorilla. It’s just he’s stronger than strong. I don’t even think he even realizes how strong he is. I mean, he's got great control, but he is ‘The Beast’. He’s a big dude.”

As strong as Brock is, he doesn't like to do a lot of planning when setting up a match.

“When you’re going in there and you’re going to get into it with Brock. Brock isn’t going to work on a lot of stuff; he’s going to want to go out there and he’s going to want to get down, so like Brock’s not a pre-planned dude at all, man, so you’ve just got to go out there and do it. For some people, it trips them out, but for me, I’m like, ‘if we’re going to scrap, we’re going to scrap.'”

Joe said he realized that there were a lot of similarities between Lesnar and a guy that Joe had a lot of run-ins with back in TNA: Kurt Angle.

“Like, honestly, a lot of getting ready for Brock was realizing he’s basically a bigger Kurt Angle. But Kurt is… he’s crazy, man. We just had the documentary about him and everything I said is true. If Kurt Angle’s leg fell off, he’d hop twice as fast to make up for the loss of mobility, man. There’s no quit in him. It was kind of a nice primer to get ready for Brock.”

Even if Joe doesn't come away victorious tonight, he's got another shot at The Universal Title when he takes part in a Fatal Four Way at Summerslam, also featuring Roman Reigns and Braun Strowman.
