Samoa Joe Shares His Thoughts On The Fans Wanting Him And AJ Styles To Main Event The 2018 SummerSlam PPV
Samoa Joe gives his take.
There were thirteen matches that took place on this year’s SummerSlam match card. The final match that fans inside of the Barclays Center saw on that August 19th night was Roman Reigns besting Brock Lesnar to become the new WWE Universal Champion. There was a bit of backlash and debate amongst the public on social media concerning what match should main event “The Biggest Party Of The Summer” and many wanted AJ Styles and Samoa Joe’s WWE Championship match to cap things off.
AJ and Joe were the eighth match of the night and despite his positioning on the card, Samoa Joe feels that the people knew what the “real main event” of the show was and he shared his thoughts on not closing SummerSlam when he was interviewed on the Gorilla Position podcast.
“Its very situational, and I think for SummerSlam looking back at it with rose-colored spectacles of course, it was the right place for it and especially how the evening played out, so, I get how fans feel, and that’s great. That’s just a testament to how passionate they are about me and AJ and I never seek to stifle that enthusiasm.” Joe continued, “But, and I don’t think any person in my position and in the right mind should but, I think when you take all of the evening’s events into account, it was where it was at and as far as I’m concerned, people knew what the real main event was so, what’s the need of… maybe the office knowing.”
Tonight, Samoa Joe and AJ Styles will do battle over the WWE Championship once again at the ‘Hell In A Cell’ PPV and to get prepped for the forthcoming show, head over to Fightful’s live coverage article.
