Samoa Joe Chokes Out CM Punk, Christian Cage Says He’s Better Than Ric Flair | AEW Collision Recap

Here is your post-AEW Collision fight size update for Saturday, August 12, 2023.

– Samoa Joe slayed the gigantic (in his mind) Andrew Everett and afterward declared that he would make CM Punk accept his challenge for AEW All In.

As a result, Joe came from the crowd and choked out CM Punk during the main event World Trios Title fight between CMFTR and The House of Black. With Punk distracted, Brody King pinned Dax Harwood with a lariat.

– Christian Cage cut a promo by besmirching the people of North Carolina and proclaiming himself a better wrestler than Ric Flair. Arn Anderson interrupted this, and his son Brock ended up challenging Luchasaurus for the TNT championship. Luchasaurus would get the win, but Darby Allin would attack both the TNT Champion and Christian Cage before challenging Cage to a match next week.

– Tony Schiavone interviewed Powerhouse Hobbs in the ring. Hobbs stated that after losing the TNT Championship, he returned to the Bay Area to retrieve the “Book of Hobbs,” promising to begin writing the next chapter of the book, titled “Redemption.”  Hobbs called out Miro, who obliged his wish, but Aaron Solow and Nick Comorotto assaulted Miro from behind as he made his way to the ring. Miro fought off Comorotto and Solow, but Hobbs struck him with a Spinebuster.

– At the show’s start, it was announced that Ricky Starks was suspended from wrestling for 30 days but would continue to be part of Saturday Collision because he acquired a managerial license.

– The Acclaimed, still reeling from the heartbreak of losing Daddy Ass, defeated the Iron Savages in two-on-two action. They also revealed that they would be teaming up again on Dynamite as they try again to find their groove as a tag team.

– Toni Storm hopes that including Saraya in the AEW Women’s World Championship match at AEW All In in Wembley will lead to a fair shake for her.

– The Bang Bang Gang, Bullet Club Gold, caught up with Lexy Nair and declared themselves the most elite version of Bullet Club ever, saying that any other group of individuals who declare themselves to be that do not have the right.

– Mercedes Martinez & Diamante picked up a victory over Willow Nightingale and Kris Stalander, using nefarious means to pick up the win.

– Ian Riccaboni, who had been filling in for Kevin Kelly while Kelly was calling the NJPW G1 Climax, revealed on Twitter that he would be “returning to his home planet” of ROH exclusivity.
