Sami Zayn Makes Pilgrimage To Mecca, Shawn Michaels On NXT Battleground In Lowell, More | Fight Size

Here’s your fight size update for Thursday, May 25, 2023:

– Sami Zayn completed an Umrah, a pilgrimage to the Islamic holy city of Mecca. Sami will wrestle in Saudi Arabia for the first time ever at WWE Night of Champions.

– Ahead of WWE NXT Battleground in Lowell, Massachusetts, Shawn Michaels spoke to the Lowell Sun about his memories in the New England city.

“I’m still trying to remember if I’ve ever wrestled at Tsongas Center,” said Michaels. “But I’ve always been a big fan of the Lowell Auditorium. You talk to any WWE superstar; they’ll tell you the Lowell Auditorium is one of the greatest places ever, because it was so small, and the fans were right on top of you. The energy and electricity in that building was always fantastic.

“That was also the first place where the young ladies started flashing us,” said Michaels. “So, there were a lot of memorable experiences I’ve had in Lowell. I’m thrilled going back there. I want our young men and women here at NXT to experience that. The Boston area is just electric. It’s that kind of energy and passion that makes you fall in love with this.”

Major League Wrestling (MLW) today announced Ichiban will make his debut on the FUSION TV taping portion of the July 8 Never Say Never event Saturday, July 8 at Philadelphia’s 2300 Arena.

The pride of the NumberOneDojo is coming to Major League Wrestling. Impressing league officials as he’s unleashed a fury of lethal puroresu on the northeastern wrestling circuit, the exceptional middleweight now embarks on a new challenge: MLW.

“All roads lead to the 2300 arena as Ichiban makes his MLW debut,” states a representative from NumberOneDojo, Ichiban’s fight camp. “The NumberOne Dojo’s Kokujin Katana will once again travel into unknown territory, looking to test his might against the best. Ichiban wishes to prove himself here in the Major League by fighting MLW’s strongest warriors & giving them a lesson in the way of the ONE.”

Ichiban will compete as part of the FUSION portion of the card.

League officials are in talks with several prospective fighters and expect to announce Ichiban’s July 8 bout shortly.
