Rusev: On Paper, The League Of Nations Could Have Been The Best Faction In History
Although the League of Nations was a relatively minor portion of Rusev’s career, he knew that the stable had potential.
The group that consisted of superstars born outside the United States (Sheamus, Alberto Del Rio, King Barrett and Rusev) were only together for roughly six months or so and were a thorn on Roman Reigns’ side. When it comes to the group’s potential, Rusev said in an interview with Peter Roumeliotis that it could have been the best faction ever. However, the group’s intended purpose was to feud with Reigns as Sheamus held the WWE World Heavyweight Championship.
“That thing never had a chance, never had a chance. Theoretically, on paper, it could have been the best faction in history, but they never had a chance. They were there to be a punching bag for Roman Reigns, which is okay. We did great, we built him up and he went on to win the title [at WrestleMania] so we did our job right,” Rusev said.
The group disbanded shortly after WrestleMania 32 in 2016 and Rusev went on to win the United States Championship, be in a tag team with Aiden English and now feuding with Bobby Lashley.
