Ruby Soho Comments On Intergender Wrestling In AEW, Says Women’s Division Makes Strides Every Week
Ruby Soho has already challenged for the AEW Women’s Championship and on Wednesday, she will look to become the first-ever AEW TBS Women’s Champion.
Soho will face Jade Cargill in the finals of the AEW TBS Title tournament, which began in October and has put an extra spotlight on the women’s division.
Speaking to Joseph Staszewski of the New York Post, Soho commented on women getting more TV time through the tournament and the launch of AEW Rampage in August.
“I think we’re on our way. The amazing street fight that just took place on Rampage is one thing that everybody’s talking about right now and those women put on an incredible performance. I think the TBS title is elevating our division past the point we thought was possible at this point. We are taking these strides every single week. It’s not just once in a while, it’s every week we are taking strides and making history and take steps toward building this division to be the best it possibly can,” she said.
Outside of AEW, Soho has competed for Beyond Wrestling and AAW where she’s faced Alex Shelley and Josh Alexander.
AEW has mostly stayed away from intergender wrestling and when asked if there’s been a push in the company for more, she replied, “Not that I’ve seen. I’m mainly concerned about elevating the women’s division to its fullest. I spent quite a bit of time on the independents doing inter-gender wrestling.”
Soho has defeated Penelope Ford, Kris Statlander, and Nyla Rose in the AEW TBS Title Tournament.
Fightful will have live coverage of AEW Dynamite, which moves to TBS, beginning at 8 p.m. ET on Wednesday.
