Rough Cut Of WWE’s Paige Biopic Movie Has First Screening

A rough cut of WWE's upcoming movie about former Divas Champion Paige's family recently was screened for the first time.

According to Pro Wrestling Sheet, the movie "Fighting with my family" was screened and that a source told the website that the film was not bad, but that it "still needs work." It was also the first time the film was shown to people who did not work on the movie.

The film boasts The Rock as an executive producer, who made various appearances in the film, dropping some of his catchphrases to Paige backstage at live events. The film also follows Paige's beginnings as a wrestler in England, where she grew up being raised in a pro wrestling family, to her journey to WWE where she would end up winning the NXT Women's Championship and Divas Championship.

One source did tell Pro Wrestling Sheet that while the acting "was solid" and had an emotional ending, it was a paint-by-the-numbers type of film and that it could be pretty much be pieced together from press releases and IMDB.

Paige is the only woman to simultaneously hold the NXT and Divas titles after defeated AJ Lee to win the Divas Title in her main roster debut, while still holding the NXT Women's Title.

Even though the film has begun screening, there is still no announcement as to when the film will actually be released. Florence Pugh will play Paige and Jack Lowden will co-star as her brother Zak. Paige is still recovering from a neck injury that required surgery.
