Ronnie Platt On The Elite Using ‘Carry On Wayward Son’ As A Theme Song: That’s Job Security For Us

Kansas’ Ronnie Platt reflects on The Elite using “Carry On Wayward Son” as their theme song.

The Elite, Kenny Omega, Matt Jackson, and Nick Jackson have been using the iconic Kansas song “Carry On Wayward Son” as their theme song since AEW Full Gear 2022. Since then, whenever the three of them appear together, released first in 1976, has played the AEW World Trios Champions to the ring.

Speaking with Darren Paltrowitz, Ronnie Platt, singer, and keyboardist in the band, says that he looks at AEW’s use of the song as job security as younger generations are now learning about the music of Kansas.

“That’s the original that they’re using. Then I saw that video where they’re walking out in the stadium, and all the people are going nuts. Oh my god, that was so cool. That’s just good for the band. That’s good promo and really introducing Kansas, even though the kids might not know who the band is or haven’t heard the song before, it really is initiating young people to that music. So that’s all good. We call that job security,” said Platt.

Tony Khan previously said that getting the song licensed for The Elite wasn’t a difficult process. In the past, Conrad Thompson has said that the bandmembers are fans of the Something to Wrestle podcast with Bruce Prichard.

The Young Bucks also tried to apply for the trademark of “The Wayward Sons” in wrestling, but ultimately ended up abandoning the trademark.
