Ronda Rousey’s 2019 WWE Raw ‘Arrest’ Mentioned In COVID-19 Government Ad Campaign Document
Ronda Rousey’s “arrest” on a 2019 episode of Raw caught the attention of the Donald Trump administration.
A list compiled by Michael Caputo, who was named assistant secretary of public affairs for the Department of Health & Human Services earlier this year, vetted hundreds of celebrities for a potential ad campaign for President Donald Trump in regards to the coronavirus. Politico got a copy of the list and among the celebrities vetted, Rousey’s name appeared.
In the “additional notes” section, it stated that Rousey was “arrested during WWE event in 2019,” referencing an angle that took place in April of that year. However, that “arrest” was a storyline one and not a real one.
To give context to the arrest, Rousey, Becky Lynch and Charlotte Flair engaged in a three-way brawl that had to be broken up by “local authorities.” Rousey was the first to be handcuffed, which allowed Lynch to get in a cheap shot, leading her to be cuffed once again. Charlotte saw this as an opportunity to get in her cheap shot, which forced the “authorities” to slap the wrist bracelets on her as well.
Lynch and Rousey kicked at each other in the back of the cop car, eventually leading to a window being smashed and Lynch being removed from the vehicle. Lynch and Charlotte would go on to kick at each other as Rousey tried to commandeer the cop car, but without the use of her hands, only managed to crash the car into another cop car. The segment ended with all three ladies being taken away to a local jail.
All three women would go on to have a triple threat match at WrestleMania 35 with Lynch emerging victorious and winning the Raw and SmackDown Women’s titles.
