Roman Reigns: If WWE Was All Good, I Might Still Be At Home
Roman Reigns stepped away from WWE prior to WrestleMania 36, taking time to be with his family during the pandemic.
He returned at SummerSlam and one week later, won the Universal Title at Payback. Reigns is now once again the face and leader of WWE, and he was called upon because no one else was stepping up.
“If it was all perfect, there wouldn’t be a need for me,” Reigns told Corey Graves on WWE After The Bell. “The fans wouldn’t be calling for me to come back, the company wouldn’t need me. If it was really all good, I might still be at home. I think there are some people showing some glimmers, but the people who are doing good now, they were doing good before I left. Bray Wyatt, Seth Rollins, Drew has stepped up. I couldn’t imagine this being my opening title run, having to do this during a pandemic. A lot of respect to Drew. Randy has always been Randy. He seems a little less lethargic and he’s got a little pep to his step and he’s enjoying himself. That’s always been a thing for Randy, if he’s having fun, it translates, and when he’s not, you can see it. Keith Lee, I was in there at Survivor Series with him, so I felt him and his presence. I had a general idea that he’s legit. When they are doing their job is when I don’t have to do mine anymore. John said the same thing to me in one of his promos and we haven’t seen him in a while. In order for me to leave, someone has to come and hold it down and show they can maintain and handle the responsibility. As long as I’m needed, I’m going to be here. We have guys who can be there, they just haven’t gotten there. I’ll help as much as possible, but I’m not going to give it to you.”
Reigns proved himself to be the Tribal Chief at WWE Clash of Champions when he decimated his cousin Jey Uso.
