Roman Reigns Hits Two Year Mark As WWE Universal Champion

A huge milestone for Roman Reigns.

On this day (August 30) two years ago, Roman Reigns won the WWE Universal Championship in a three-way bout against Braun Strowman and “The Fiend” Bray Wyatt at WWE Payback 2020.

Reigns won the match by pinning Strowman after making a late arrival.

He’s held the title for two years, defending it against the likes of Jey Uso, Kevin Owens, Edge, Bryan Danielson (Daniel Bryan), Finn Balor, Brock Lesnar, John Cena, and more.

He’s also collected more gold along the way, unifying the Universal Champion and the WWE Championship at WWE WrestleMania 38 to become the Undisputed WWE Universal Champion by defeating Lesnar.

Reigns is the longest reigning WWE Universal Champion of all time.

Reigns and the Usos are set to hold a two-year celebration for Roman on Friday’s WWE SmackDown. Fightful will have live coverage of WWE SmackDown beginning at 8 p.m. ET.
