Roman Reigns Defeats John Cena At WWE No Mercy 2017

It's their first one-on-one matchup ever, and the two men with eerily similar main roster paths

In the lead-up to the match, Cena criticized Reigns' ability as the guy to carry WWE after he's gone from the company. After a slow-paced start and four Attitude Adjustments, Roman Reigns would kick out. He'd go on to Superman Punch and Spear John Cena on his way to a win.

You can see an excerpt from our Fightful.com live coverage below.

Cena sends Roman into the ring post before hitting an avalanche AA off of the second rope for a near fall. Cena goes for an AA on an announce table before Roman counters and spears him through a different one. Roman rolls John back into the ring for a near fall before Cena hits two AA's for a very close near fall. Roman then hits a superman punch and a spear for the pin and the win.

Winner: Roman Reigns via pinfall

Following the match, Cena raised Reign's hand to a chorus of boos and Reigns left the ring. Cena saluted the crowd before leaving on his own.

Both men have won Royal Rumbles, headlined WrestleManias, and won WWE Championships. The two men have traded jabs at one another on social media for months, and then interacted in promos during the last several weeks, which saw their insults get personal leading up to No Mercy.
