ROH’s Kevin Kelly Talks Rumored WWE Talent Raid
Ring of Honor's Kevin Kelly has never been one to keep his thoughts to himself about the wrestling industry or specific companies. If he has an opinion on something, he'll be sure to tell those who want to know if whether it ruffles some feathers or not.
During an interview with PressBoxOnline, which was recorded before "Final Battle," the voice of Ring of Honor spoke about rumors that the WWE is going to attempt to "raid" the talent of ROH in the coming months. Kelly was adamant about the fact that should talent leave for the WWE, ROH will find talent to fill the void.
"We look at it in one respect as flattery. Certainly, imitation is its most sincere form," he said. "We look at the number of opportunities we have given to stars throughout the years, and for each departure, we have found stars equal to or greater than those they replaced. We also are very committed to making sure that all of our potential free agents are presented with comparable contract offers, and we look for Ring of Honor to be a promotion of choice.
"We look for athletes that want to be here because they want to prove themselves against the very best. We know that for every roster spot that opens up, there's an opportunity for someone new to step in and captivate the imagination of the fan base."
Kelly added that the company is "excited" about the upcoming year, and is working on signing, who he called, the "key members" of the ROH roster.
"The more that our competition pushes us, the more that it drives us, but we're motivated by our own goals, and we have long-term plans in place for taking Ring of Honor to bigger and bigger heights," Kelly said. "We feel very confident with our strategies and with our ability to re-sign and retain those who want to be here."
Kelly also spoke about Cody Rhodes' upcoming match at "Final Battle" as well as if fans will see him in ROH beyond that night. The full interview can be found at PressBoxOnline.
