ROH COO Joe Koff Has Enjoyed ROH Remaining Spoiler Free During The Pandemic Era
Ring of Honor resumed its television show and pay-per-view events in August 2020 after a hiatus due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
ROH implemented a bubble in Baltimore, bulk taping events and ensuring the health and safety of performers and staff.
Baltimore is starting to open back up, which would theoretically allow ROH to have fans at events in the near future. ROH COO Joe Koff said on ROH Strong that he expects fans to return at some point and will strategize with his team on how to continue to keep everyone safe.
Despite no fans at events and bulk taping, Koff has enjoyed the fact that ROH events have remained spoiler-free while in the bubble.
“One of the things I have enjoyed about the way we’ve produced our television is that, without crowds, it’s almost been spoiler-less. I get to watch it like a fan does, sitting at home and not knowing the results. I never know the results if I’m not there. That’s important to me, having that experience. We care about the experience our fans are having. I would like to have [fans and fan excitement] back, but I also like the fact that people who get to see it, get to see it like I get to see it. I have so much respect for our talent because they understand how important that is to the fans, to let them see it for the first time and let them experience it the same way. We’ll have to think about that and it’ll be an opportunity to explore; how do we maintain that while bringing back fans to events,” he said.
It is unknown when ROH will move on from bubble tapings and start holding live events once again.
Elsewhere during the podcast, Koff explained the challenges of working with other promotions while not running live events. You can find his full comments by clicking here.
