Rocky Romero Talks Tony Khan’s Promo On Nick Khan, Says It’s ‘All In Good Fun’
Rocky Romero discusses Tony Khan’s promo on Nick Khan from 2021.
Since the start of All Elite Wrestling in 2019, Tony Khan has been one of the more outspoken figures within the world of pro wrestling. In 2021, a report came out about NJPW and WWE possibly working together, which led to Tony Khan releasing a promo on social media noting that there was only room for one Khan in the wrestling business, which obviously referenced Nick Khan.
When speaking with Fightful in a new interview, Rocky Romero talked about Tony’s promo from 2021. Romero also noted that he thinks the situation helped the business of the Forbidden Door pay-per-view, which reportedly drew 127K buys.
“It’s one of those cool things in wrestling. Obviously, Tony is a smart guy, he gets the wrestling business, and this was his moment to kind of troll a little bit, which is fun. When you get to see somebody with that kind of status in wrestling, the owner of AEW, trolling WWE a little, trolling Nick Khan a little, I think it’s all in good fun and all pretty cool. Honestly, it may have helped Forbidden Door in some kind of way. It was smart marketing on Tony’s part.”
According to Khan, the show generated over $5 million dollars from the reported 127,000 buys.
