The Rock’s Daughter Wants To Pursue Pro Wrestling
Like father, like daughter?
Simone Garcia Johnson is the 16-year-old daughter of one of the biggest pro wrestling and movie stars of all time, The Rock. She was recently named as this year's ambassador to the Golden Globe awards, where she will hand out trophies during the awards and roll out the red carpet.
Speaking to the Hollywood Reporter, however, she has also indicated that she has an interest in becoming a pro wrestler.
"It's a sport that is unlike anything else in the world" she told them. "There's just a certain amount of passion that every move and match requires, and that's so admirable. It's definitely something I've thought about and want to pursue."
She is also signed with IMG models. When asked if she would be interested in acting, she said she's not interesting in perusing that in the future — rather, she has her own plans for her future, and they do involve pro wrestling.
"As much as I love and admire the film industry, I don't see myself pursuing a career in it at the moment" she said. "I plan to study business in college — NYU, hopefully — and after graduating, I want to pursue wrestling and eventually transition into talent management."
The Golden Globes will air on January 7 on NBC.
