The Rock: I Have Discussed Potentially Becoming A WWE Executive With Nick Khan
The Rock says he has discussed potentially becoming a WWE executive with Nick Khan.
The Rock says he has discussed potentially becoming a WWE executive with Nick Khan. He also shares his thoughts on the possibility of WWE getting sold.
Earlier this year, WWE endured a substantial regime change when former Chairman and CEO Vince McMahon retired on July 22. Stephanie McMahon and Nick Khan were named the company’s co-CEOs, and Triple H was appointed the new head of creative. As this new era has continued, it’s fair to wonder which changes could be coming in the future. One possibility could be The Rock joining the Board of Directors, given his success in the business world.
In an interview with BNN Bloomberg, The Rock was asked whether he would consider investing in WWE or accepting a director position. He responded by noting that he has discussed the possibility with Khan.
“Nick [Khan] and I have talked about that, and we always enjoy that over a bottle of Teremana [Johnson’s tequila brand]. I love the wrestling business. I grew up in it. My grandfather [and] my dad started here in Canada, where [his father] was born. So, I’m not quite too sure if a board seat is in my future, but possibly other things are in my future, for sure,” The Rock said.
“The Great One” also discussed a potential WWE sale, which has been speculated about for quite some time. He stated that any buyer would have to love the wrestling business in order to protect the company’s long-term future.
“I’ve known Vince for a very, very long time and he’s a businessman. I think the key if there were a sale of the WWE is to make sure that whoever acquires that brand in that property, you’ve got to love the wrestling business. Of course, you can love the asset, and you can love everything that comes with it, but you got to love the professional wrestling business … because if not, then you could kind of see the writing on the wall; four or five years down the road, what will happen?” he said.
In a recent interview, The Rock described how his WWE career helped him create a better “Black Adam.” Check out his comments here.
The Rock also stated that he’s the Head of the Table, and he complimented The Bloodline. More information is available here.
