Rob Van Dam Said He Turned Down A WWE Contract In 2015
Before WWE started bringing back former WWE stars from years past for the “New Era” that started with the WWE Draft, Rob Van Dam was contacted by the company to make a return last year.
Van Dam recently appeared on the The Buzzards Wrestling Podcast and revealed that he was approached by WWE in 2015 to be a part of the Wyatt Family – ECW Originals feud where he would have teamed up with the Dudley Boyz. He turned down the offer and so the spot was eventually filled by Rhyno and Tommy Dreamer.
Van Dam noted that the terms of the contract offered to him was not the most favorable for the former WWE Champion.
“It wasn’t a real good time for me and that affected the dollar amount it would take to make it worth my while and that was the last talk we had,” Van Dam said. “And that probably left an impression on them, which I’m totally fine with.”
When asked whether or not Van Dam’s in-ring career is over, he didn’t ruled out retirement, but said that “it’s likely, but I have no plans of that.”
Van Dam was a former WWE Champion, ECW World Heavyweight Championship and WWE Intercontinental Champion. He last competed for WWE in 2014 and was put in the Intercontinental Title scene at various points in the year, competing in the Intercontinental Title Tournament, which was eventually won by Bad News Barrett.
