Rob Van Dam Praises Jack Perry’s Heel Promo Work: It Was Getting Heat And He Was Comfortable

RVD was impressed by Jack Perry’s heel demeanor. 

Rob Van Dam accomplished a lot in his career but was largely a babyface throughout his career, getting over despite initially being presented as a heel due to his flashy offense. 

Today, Jack Perry has taken the opposite approach, recently turning heel after being a face throughout his entire run in AEW. 

On his podcast, One of a Kind, Van Dam opened up to Wrestling Writing’s Dominic DeAngelo about how he feels the former Jungle Boy carried himself in his first heel promos. 

RVD praised Jack Perry’s demeanor and ability to get heat without screaming stereotypical wrestling promo jargon.

“He had everybody listening to him, you know, smooth. Wasn’t screaming like, ‘I’m gonna rip your head off,’ you know? But it was still getting heat, and he just was comfortable, took his time. So I was impressed with that.”

On the 200th episode of AEW Dynamite, Jack Perry will go face-to-face with Rob Van Dam’s top ECW rival, Jerry Lynn. This encounter was spurred on by Jack’s comments regarding ECW now that he has the FTW Championship. Fans can learn more at this link.
