RJ City Has Not Seen Arn Anderson Since They Filmed Hey! (EW), Wants Jake Roberts On The Show

RJ City reflects on his one magical meeting with Arn Anderson on Hey! (EW) and allowing wrestlers to flex a different kind of creative muscle through the weekly web series.

RJ City’s Hey! (EW) is released every Sunday on AEW’s YouTube channel and has featured names such as Saraya, William Regal, Eddie Kingston, The Butcher and The Blade, and more. Working with RJ allows these straight-lace personalities to let loose and adlib in ways that differ from your standard wrestling promo.

Speaking on Comedy Store Wrestling, RJ said that giving everyone he works with has allowed him to subject them to his idiocy openly. In Arn Anderson’s case, RJ says he had never interacted with “Double A” before doing the show and has yet to see him since.

“It’s incredibly tolerant of the guest, of an Arn Anderson, to sit down and go, ‘Here’s 10 minutes with this person who I’ve never met in my life, whatever you want to talk about’ is very ridiculous. So credit to someone like Saraya, who’s a total open book to my idiocy,” RJ said. “Arn had not seen the show. He asked Mark Henry, ‘What am I getting into?’ Mark Henry said, ‘I think you’ll have a really nice time,’ which is very sweet of Mark. Arn Anderson sat down and shook my hand nodded. We turned it on, and then we had that experience. The full thing is in the episode, and then we’re off the air. He said, ‘That was fun,’ shook my hand. I’ve never seen him since; we had this little magic moment, and it’s just the best.”

RJ also says that he thinks it’s fun to allow these wrestlers to flex their creativity and revealed he hopes to work with Jake Roberts one day.

“I also think it’s nice to see people like him and people like William Regal, who are very funny and very smart, to be able to show it off in that way as opposed to just doing a wrestling promo. Sometimes that can be limiting to the scope of their talents. They can be incredibly funny people. Eddie Kingston is hilarious. I didn’t think he would talk about Shakespeare. He brought up Shakespeare for some reason. Oh my god, Jake Roberts, I would love to get on the show,” said RJ.

In the past, RJ City has spoken about Arn Anderson’s pronunciation of the word mauve, and their disagreement of such, during their time together. Fans can read his comments about that at this link.

Elsewhere in this interview, RJ City revealed that AEW has discussed making his web series into a television segment. Learn more here.
