On the September 18 episode of WWE Raw, Ricochet faced Shinsuke Nakamura, as the two stars had been feuding in recent weeks. Nakamura went to hit Ricochet with a chair, but Ricochet used the weapon instead, so the match ended in a disqualification. Nakamura attacked Ricochet after the bell and hit his leg with a chair, seemingly injuring him in the process.
Ricochet appeared in a backstage interview on the September 25 episode of WWE Raw, and he was asked for an update. He didn’t provide any details, but he made it clear that he would be back. Ricochet also stated that he had unfinished business with Nakamura.
