Ricky Starks Suspension Update, FTR Featured In Hype Package, Darby Beats Christian | AEW Recap

Here is your fight size update following AEW Saturday Collision on Saturday, August 19, 2023. 

– Ricky Starks started his temporary career as a manager, acquiring the services of Big Bill, who crushed Derek Neal. Neal was then whipped by Ricky Starks with a belt after the match. 

– Starks also noted during the show that Tony Schiavone incorrectly announced his suspension last week, as Starks is only suspended for 28 days and has now served half of that time.

– In the main event, Darby Allin defeated Christian Cage in a very competitive matchup. afterwards, he was beaten down by Christian Cage and Luchasaurus. Cage covered Darby Allin and forced Tony Schiavone to count the pinfall and announce him as the reigning TNT Champion. All the while, AR Fox & Swerve Strickland watched what was happening from the comfort of their locker room. 

– FTR appeared via voice-only in a recap package. ICYMI: Earlier this week, Cash Wheeler (Daniel Wheeler) was arrested on August 18 on a charge of aggravated assault with a firearm.

– Switchblade Jay White defeated Dalton Castle in the first proper match on the card. After the match, Jay White threatened to expose Kenny Omega in All In if Omega didn’t stay in the hospital. White says The Elite is not the best of Bullet Club. Juice Robinson had some words for Hangman. The Gunns said The Young Bucks had to cheat to beat them. They say The Bang Bang Gang runs AEW. 

– In a surprise match, The Gunns & Juice Robinson defeated The Iron Savages (Bronson & Boulder) & Jacked Jameson after Austin & Colten Gunn said they wanted a warm-up match before Wednesday’s Dynamite. 

– The Outcasts swear their loyalty to one another and say nothing will break it.

– A video package recapped what’s happened in recent weeks between The House of Black and The Acclaimed. After that, House of Black was featured in a vignette, with Malakai Black ominously eulogizing Billy Gunn. 

– Willow Nightingale defeated Diamante. Thankfully for her, Nightingale had Kris Statander watching her back as the TBS Champion was able to nullify the interference of Mercedes Martinez.

– Samoa Joe was scheduled to wrestle Golden Vampire, but the unknown star assaulted Joe before the bout ever started. The Vampire then landed the GTS before exposing himself to be CM Punk all along. At AEW All In, the two will compete for the “Real” World Championship.

 

– RUSH is back, and he has some stern words for the members of La Faccion Ingobernable, whom he had kidnapped in Mexico.

 – Powerhouse Hobbs defeated Kevin Ku. He now has a date with Miro at AEW All Out.
