Ric Flair Wants To Manage Randy Orton To Championship Success At SummerSam, WWE Has Yet To Approve

Ric Flair wants to manage Randy Orton at SummerSlam but hasn’t gotten the okay from WWE yet.

Recently, Ric Flair has been managing Randy Orton on WWE television as part of a mini Evolution reunion. Randy is planning on challenging Drew McIntyre for the WWE Championship at SummerSlam, and Ric Flair wants to be able to be in Randy’s corner, but WWE might not allow it.

With the recent Coronavirus surge in the state of Florida and elsewhere, Ric Flair, who recently confirmed his wife has tested positive for COVID-19, told TVInsider that he is eager to receive confirmation that he will manage Randy Orton in the main event of SummerSlam but he hasn’t received approval from WWE’s higher-ups.

“The thing with Orton is it’s a real-life story. His dad and I have been friends since the ’70s. We probably started around the same time. I watched Randy grow up. I was there the day he came up with Dave [Bautista] in Evolution. I don’t know if I would have that same impact on a lot of people. I certainly would love the opportunity, but I think it would have to be one of those scenarios. I’m trying to get me to manage Randy against [Drew] McIntyre [at SummerSlam]. I don’t know. I haven’t heard back, but it’s not because I’m not trying,” said Flair.

Should Randy Orton win at SummerSlam, he will have captured his fourteenth World Championship, two away from the WWE-acknowledged record of 16, held by both John Cena and Ric Flair himself.
