Ric Flair Hopes Charlotte And Rhea Ripley Headline Night 1 Of WrestleMania 39

Ric Flair weighs in on what he believes should headline the first night of WresteMania 39.

The second night of WrestleMania 39 is guaranteed to be headlined by Cody Rhodes challenging Roman Reigns for the Undisputed WWE Universal Championship. However, what headlines the first night on Saturday, April 1, 2023, remains to be determined.

It is known that Charlotte Flair will defend her WWE SmackDown Women’s Championship against 2023 Royal Rumble winner Rhea Ripley. Still, as it remains to be seen whether or not Kevin Owens and Sami Zayn will challenge Jimmy and Jey Uso for the WWE Tag Team Championship, what should headline the first night of Wrestlemania remains a popular debate.

Ric Flair, on the latest episode of his podcast “To Be The Man,” unsurprisingly said that he feels like his daughter’s championship match against reality should be the headliner with the tag team championship match going on just before it.

“I would put it on right before Rhea and Charlotte. There’s no way you can’t… as entertaining as it might be, in my estimation, there’s no way you put a tag match on ahead of a championship [match], that someone won the Royal Rumble. I’ve seen things like that happen before, but I don’t anticipate that being the case. I think the women’s championship [match], the fact that Rhea had to win the Royal Rumble, which is a huge event, it’s the [way] to getting to pick the champion you want to wrestle from SmackDown or Raw, and Rhea picked Charlotte. I would have to think that would be the main event. But that match will be very entertaining.

“It’s LA. It doesn’t get any bigger. We were out there a long time ago, and I thought to myself, ‘This is cool,’ but now they’ve got the SoFi Stadium and sold out both nights,” Ric continued. “I’m really excited. But to answer that question, I would hope the main event would be [Charlotte] and Rhea.”

Ric Flair will also be inducting The Great Muta into the WWE Hall of Fame during WrestleMania weekend. Learn more about that here.
