Ric Flair Had Surgery To Replace A Pacemaker And Remove A Blood Clot, Says He Could Live To Be 95

Naitch’s first television interview since being discharged from the hospital.

Prior to All Elite Wrestling’s Double Or Nothing weekend that included the Starrcast II convention, two-time WWE Hall Of Famer Ric Flair had a medical scare that caused him to be taken to a local hospital in Georgia and Flair ultimately had to be pulled from Starrcast II because he had surgery a few days out from his appearance in Las Vegas. There was no concrete information about why Flair had to take a trip to the hospital or the severity of his visit outside of him having to undergo surgery. He recently sat down with CBS 46 for an exclusive interview and it was revealed during that interview that Flair had surgery to replace a pacemaker and a blood clot that all derives from an irregular heartbeat.

Flair stated that he is on echo alert and joked about having a cold Miller Lite as soon as it hits 50. “The Nature Boy” said that all he thought about in the hospital was passing away and added that there is nothing else to think about when one is that close to death.

“All I did was think about dying. Every step you take when you’ve been that close, and I was going out of my way to make people that I cared about understand how much I cared about them,” Flair said.

Ric Flair credited his wife Wendy Barlow for taking care of him and said that she saved his life. Flair posted two videos to his YouTube channel entitled ‘Back In Action’ and there is no word on when those videos were filmed due to Flair addressing WWE Hall Of Famer Shawn Michaels for the comments Michaels made during Flair’s ESPN 30 For 30 documentary that aired in November of 2017.

TMZ also had the opportunity to chat with Flair and he said he feels great and the prognosis is that he could live to be 95 years old. Flair is confident that the doctors did everything possible to provide protection of his health and he made the following comments about the procedure and the medical staff at the facility where his surgery took place:

“I stayed for 48 hours [after surgery] just to make sure because we’ve been trying everything,” Ric said, showing off his brand-new heart surgery scar. “We finally got behind it and I think I’m good to go. I feel great. The prognosis is I could live to be 95.”

Flair had two health scares over the past several years but remains active via social media by consistently updating his Twitter and Instagram accounts.
