Ric Flair: “This Is The Greatest Time In The Last 20 Years To Be A Pro Wrestler”

Ric Flair understands what it means to be a part of a major wrestling war between WWE and another company vying to overtake Vince McMahon’s promotion as the No. 1 in the sport.

Flair was with WCW during the Monday Night War between WCW and WWE in the 1990s when the two companies battled for television ratings supremacy on Monday nights. During an interview with the Houston Chronicle, Flair talks about the current wrestling landscape with WWE and the new AEW promotion with both promotions set to have live wrestling shows on Wednesdays moving forward.

In the interview, Flair added it is the best time to be wrestler with major promotions ready to pay plenty of money to a lot of talent and feature them in prominent promotions.

“This is the greatest time in the last 20 years to be a pro wrestler. Tony and the Khan family have a lot of money, and they’re going to spend the money to get good. For the young guys coming along, it provides an alternative way. The WWE can pay only so many guys and feature only so many guys. They do a great job of it, but a lot of guys who do have talent never get an opportunity,” Flair said.

WWE is set to have NXT be televised live every week on the USA Network starting on September 18 at Full Sail while AEW’s unnamed TNT show will start on October 2. The full interview can be read at this link.
