A new book about Ric Flair is set to come out in September 2023.
Flair is a 16-time world champion and a two-time WWE Hall of Famer. He is widely considered to be one of the most iconic wrestlers of all time. Flair completed the Triple Crown with both WCW and WWE, and he is also a 10-time NWA Worlds Heavyweight Champion, among other accolades.
Historian Tim Hornbaker announced that his tenth book, “The Last Real World Champion: The Legacy of ‘Nature Boy’ Ric Flair”, will be published through ECW Press on September 12, 2023. Hornbaker, the author of “Death of the Territories”, noted that this will mark the first time a historian has written a book about Flair. He also stated that the book is three years in the making.
My tenth book will be published on September 12, 2023. The title is The Last Real World Champion: The Legacy of ‘Nature Boy’ Ric Flair.
This is the first book on Flair written by a historian and will be one of my largest books with over 50 pages of endnotes.

Hornbaker has also written “National Wrestling Alliance: The Untold Story of the Monopoly That Strangled Pro Wrestling” and “Master of the Ring: The Biography of Buddy Rogers”, among other books.
Speaking with Greg Oliver of SLAM Wrestling, Hornbaker made it clear that Flair has not been involved with the project. He also expressed his aim to put Flair’s accomplishments into the proper perspective.
“Ric Flair is one of the most important professional wrestling figures of all-time. He is also one of the most discussed and critiqued personalities in the sport’s history. I thought it was time for a historian to present his full story from an independent point of view and put his achievements into the proper perspective,” Hornbaker said.
In 2004, Flair co-wrote his autobiography, “To Be The Man” with Keith Elliot Greenberg. Flair was recently the subject of the Peacock documentary, “Woooooo! Becoming Ric Flair”.
