Here is your post-Monday Night Raw fight size update for August 28, 2023.

– Finn Balor argued with Damian Priest backstage and told him they had to get it together. Priest agreed and told him that JD McDonagh didn’t matter. Tensions continued to rise. Rhea Ripley got involved and told them to make it right by winning at WWE Payback. She stated that there would be changes if The Judgment Day didn’t all leave with the gold at WWE Payback.

– WWE World Heavyweight Champion Seth Rollins came to the ring and briefly paid tribute to Bray Wyatt by saying “Yowie wowie.” He called out Shinsuke Nakamura ahead of their match at WWE Payback. Nakamura interrupted in a video message and stated that he wanted to dismantle Rollins the man at WWE Payback. Rollins responded with a passionate message, but Nakamura attacked him from behind.

– Bronson Reed attacked Tommaso Ciampa during his entrance ahead of their match. Ciampa took the fight to Reed. Ciampa ultimately scored the win. 

– A video package highlighted Raquel Rodriguez ahead of her title match against Rhea Ripley at WWE Payback. She vowed to win the gold. 

– The Miz came out dressed up as LA Knight. He mocked the fan-favorite star. He took out a bag of LA Knight shirts and threw one of them down. He said anyone could be LA Knight. The Miz said he would expose LA Knight at WWE Payback and prove that it was actually his game. 

– WWE honored Bray Wyatt with a video package. The company played his theme song and showed his empty rocking chair on the stage.

–  WWE Intercontinental Champion Gunther commented on his loss to Chad Gable. He made it clear that Gable pissed him off, and the challenger had his attention. Gunther announced that Gable would challenge for the title again on the September 4 episode. 

– Undisputed WWE Tag Team Champions Kevin Owens and Sami Zayn previewed their match with The Judgment Day (Damian Priest and Finn Balor) at WWE Payback  and announced that it will be a Steel City Street Fight.

– Rhea Ripley and Dominik Mysterio came to the ring. Ripley previewed her match with Raquel Rodriguez at WWE Payback. Rodriguez interrupted and took the fight to Ripley. Dominik distracted Rodriguez, but the challenger persevered and dropped Rhea with a clothesline. Rodriguez stood tall. 

– WWE NXT Women’s Champion Tiffany Stratton appeared in the crowd.

– Sami Zayn faced Damian Priest. JD McDonagh distracted Zayn, and Priest pinned him with the South of Heaven. 

– Priest didn’t seem to appreciate the help, as he told McDonagh to stay out of his business before he stormed away. Sami Zayn and Kevin Owens then ganged up on McDonagh.

– Becky Lynch faced Zoey Stark in a Falls Count Anywhere Match.Trish Stratus accompanied Stark to the ring. She threw a chair into the ring, and it accidentally hit Stark. Lynch hit Stratus with a kendo stick and ran her up the stage. Stratus continued to interfere, but Lynch emerged victorious

– Matt Riddle approached Drew McIntyre, who was holding a picture of him wearing gear that would match his own. McIntyre seemingly wasn’t in favor of the idea, but Riddle sold him on the pitch of watching the New Day face the Viking Raiders.

 – The New Day (Kofi Kingston and Xavier Woods) faced the Viking Raiders (Erik and Ivar). Matt Riddle and Drew McIntyre watched the match at ringside. The two teams battled it out. Ivar slammed Kingston into McIntyre and Riddle. McIntyre threw chairs, and he chucked one at Xavier Woods. The Viking Raiders capitalized and pinned Kingston with Ragnarok. Kingston was clearly upset with McIntyre after the match. McIntyre stormed away.

– Chad Gable faced Ludwig Kaiser. The two stars went back and forth in a hard-fought bout. Giovanni Vinci attacked Gable, so the match ended in a disqualification. Vinci and Kaiser beat up Gable and Otis. Gunther came down and went to powerbomb Gable. Gable reversed, but Imperium ganged up on him. Gunther floored Gable with a powerbomb.

– WWE paid tribute to the late Bob Barker.

– A video package highlighted the life and legacy of WWE Hall of Famer Terry Funk, who passed away on August 23.

– Jerry “The King” Lawler was in attendance, and he made an appearance during a commercial.

– Shane Helms commented on the fans chanting “Whoop that trick.”

– Matt Cardona commented on The Miz impersonating LA Knight, saying it was the best thing he has done since he married Maryse.

– On Raw Talk, Drew McIntyre and Matt Riddle looked forward to their match with The Viking Raiders (Erik and Ivar).

– Shane Helms praised Becky Lynch.
