Rey Mysterio Says He Would Be The First One To Train Aalyah If She Wanted To Become A Wrestler
If Rey Mysterio’s daughter Aalyah wants to become a wrestler then he would support her wholeheartedly.
Aalyah, along with her mother Angie, appeared on WWE during the latter part of 2020 as part of Rey’s storyline with Seth Rollins. She would eventually form an on-screen relationship with Buddy Murphy, although hasn’t been seen on television since the feud’s conclusion.
Speaking with Alex McCarthy of talkSPORT, the WWE Legend said that Aalyah enjoyed being on the show and, at certain times, is getting a feel for the business. While she hasn’t asked to follow in her father’s footsteps as of yet, Rey said that he would be the first one to train her if that day ever comes. He said the following:
“She hasn’t asked the question, but it’s funny you asked me that because my wife, she asked me a couple of days ago, she goes: “what would you say if your daughter came at you and said Dad, I want to become a wrestler?’ I said ‘I would be the first one to train her, just like I did with Dom!’ She said ‘No you wouldn’t’ [laughs]. I would! I would back her up 100 percent.”
If Aalyah does decide to get in the ring, she would also have to continue with her studies, as she is currently working very hard to become part of the medical field.
“She would still have to continue with her school because she wants to be a part of the medical field so she’s working really hard at that right now,” said Rey. “But it would be a different experience, but I would be supportive 1000 percent. Maybe she already asked mum and she’s testing it with me, right?”
Rey’s son Dominik made his in-ring debut with WWE at SummerSlam 2020 when he faced Seth Rollins. He currently competes alongside his father on SmackDown where they are the reigning Tag Team Champions. At WrestleMania Backlash they defeated The Dirty Dawgs to become the first father and son team to capture Tag Team gold in WWE.
