Rey Mysterio Recovering From ‘Severe Whiplash’ As Announced By Michael Cole On 8/4 WWE SmackDown

WWE has provided an update on the condition of Rey Mysterio.

On the July 28 edition of WWE SmackDown, Santos Escobar defeated Rey Mysterio in the finals of the WWE United States Championship Number One Contender Invitational after the match was halted due to Mysterio suffering an injury after Escobar performed a suicide dive on Mysterio, who landed on the back of his head at ringside.

One week later, on the August 4 episode of WWE Friday Night SmackDown, Michael Cole provided a brief update on Rey Mysterio, saying that he suffered severe whiplash and is currently recuperating at home with his condition being considered “day-to-day.”

Mysterio is slated to be on the August 8 episode of WWE NXT, where he will stand in the corner of Dragon Lee as Lee attempts to wrestle away the WWE NXT North American Title from Rey Mysterio’s son, Dominik Mysterio. Learn more here

Fightful will continue to monitor Rey Mysterio’s condition and report any and all updates.
