Rey Mysterio Believes The LWO Would Be A Success In 2021
In 1998, Eddie Guerrero formed the Latino World Order in WCW.
The group took some of the top Mexican talents in the company and made a mockery of the New World Order, but lasted just three months.
Rey Mysterio was among the talents in the group and he believes that an LWO could work in 2021.
“If you think about it, things that were cool back then, are becoming cool once again. I truly believe the LWO would be a huge success nowadays. It might happen. There’s so much talent and the talent that is yet to come,” Mysterio told Ryan Satin on Out of Character.
Two men Mysterio had heavy praise for were Santos Escobar and Angel Garza.
Escobar used Mysterio’s famous purple Halloween Havoc gear at NXT Halloween Havoc and Mysterio sees big things for the former NXT Cruiserweight Champion.
“He’s awesome and can go. Great mic skills, very smart, awesome friend. The fact that he’s been given an opportunity and has taken advantage of it, that’s what it’s all about. Wrestling is in his blood and his genes. I was good friends with his father and he was awesome. The fact that I shared the ring with his father and could possibly share the ring with Escobar is history,” he said.
Speaking about Garza, Mysterio said, “He’s awesome as well. I’ve been a big fan of Garza for a long time and got a chance to work him on the independent scene before we both became part of WWE. He’s organic and a spontaneous individual who can go. It’s like a new rise of what the LWO was back in WCW with all these new faces.”
Garza is currently part of the Raw brand.
Mysterio is set to team with his son Dominik to take on The Usos on Friday’s WWE SmackDown. Elsewhere during the podcast, Mysterio explained how he teaches Dominik after the match. You can find his full comments by clicking here.
